Set a New MySQL Root Password

  • Login as root
  • root# mysql -u root
  • mysql> use mysql;
  • mysql> update user set password=PASSWORD(“mynewpassword”) where User=’root’;
  • mysql> flush privileges;
  • mysql> quit
